Liss Llewellyn presents Spring New Works.
Amongst these new works, we are delighted to offer for sale a selection of pictures recently sourced from artists’ estates and private collections. This includes an early and outstanding Eric Ravilious watercolour, Afternoon in the Field (illustrated below), which was shown at his inaugural exhibition at the Zwemmer Gallery in 1933.
This exhibition also includes a rapid but exquisitely realised portrait study by former Slade Professor, Alphonse Legros, some pastels by Robert Randoll from the Great War, showing a nighttime air raid over London Bridge, an early Winifred Knights oil of Lineholt Farm, Worcestershire – where the artist herself recuperated after the war – as well as a picture of the Renaissance Archway at the entrance to Chartreuse Villeneuve les Avignon, painted by one of the leading female Surrealist artists, Marion Adnams (image below).
