On 8 May 1945, the guns across Europe finally fell silent. Victory in Europe Day marked the end of a six-year conflict that had transformed nations, shattered lives, and redefined the role of art in wartime Britain. In this online exhibition, Liss Llewellyn commemorates VE Day through the eyes of five remarkable British artists—Alan Sorrell, Laura Knight, Edward Halliday, Evelyn Dunbar, and Barnett Freedman—each of whom captured the experience of war in profoundly different yet deeply human ways.
